Anxiety and stress are the body’s way of responding to real or imagined danger otherwise known as the ‘fight or flight’ response. In the past this response served us well, getting us to react quickly when danger, such as a hungry predator was eyeing us up for their lunch! But in our current fast paced existence this response is being activated constantly. This results in a negative impact on our day-to-day life, such as our health, work and relationships.
According to the Health and Safety Executive “The total number of working days lost due to work-related stress, depression or anxiety was 11.3 million in 2013/14.”
It is important to recognise that a certain level of anxiety and stress are a normal part of everyday life. But when anxiety spirals out of control and starts taking over your life, I can help.
Treating clients as individuals, I look at what anxiety and stress mean to them. Searching for the root causes and how they experience it. I spend considerable time with clients during our first session to get an understanding of their issues.
Based on that information, I then create a bespoke download that the client listens to on a daily basis. I also use various techniques to put clients back in control of their emotions, helping them choose how they wish to respond to stressful situations.
I came to see Lisa during a very dark time in my life. I had gone through about 5 years of very tough times and felt I was coping well. In truth I was just surviving! It was not until my life was changing and getting better that I hit a brick wall of depression, low mood and sadness. I didn’t know how to cope as I had been in survivor mode for so long! It was then that I decided to seek help and found Lisa.
We first had a phone conversation and she immediately made me feel at ease. Lisa gave me the help and confidence I needed with some complex but simple and powerful strategies that have combated my low mood.
