So what are the yips? The yips are involuntary muscle contractions when you go to putt the ball. It can be caused by an overuse of certain muscles, but anxiety makes it worse. A past event, golf related or not, can trigger anxiety that gets in the way when the player feels under pressure. The yips is another form of social anxiety such as fear of public speaking. When the fight or flight response is triggered with ‘yipping’ being the physical response.
I spend considerable time with clients to get to the root cause of their yips. I then create a bespoke treatment programme using a variety of cutting edge techniques. Putting my clients back in control so that they can enjoy their game once again.
I’ve recently completed a course of Cognitive Hypnotherapy with Lisa in an attempt to get relief from Golfing Yips that had got so bad I was thinking of giving up the game I love.
Over the years I’ve tried everything to get rid of The Yips but nothing has worked until now. I’m currently Yip-free thanks to Lisa’s patient approach allowing us both to get to the root causes of the problem.
