Is a fear of public speaking holding you back? Most people feel anxious at the thought of speaking in front of others.  But for some this fear can be traumatic and can impact on many areas of their life such as their careers or social situations.

The subconscious tries to keep us away from situations that it deems to be ‘unsafe’. As a consequence the fight or flight response is triggered, which can set off a number of responses such as:

  • Racing heart
  • Shaky voice
  • Mind going blank
  • Shaking
  • Wanting to run away
  • Feeling out of control
  • Feeling nauseous

For some, a fear of public speaking lies in childhood.  They might have been asked to stand and speak in front of the class and felt uncomfortable or embarrassed, but for others the fear may develop in adulthood. A previous presentation may not have gone the way they wanted or they are in a new, highly pressurised role and feel the need to appear confident.

I use a range of techniques to identify and treat the root cause of your fear of public speaking. I can also teach you various techniques that put you in control of your emotions. This means that public speaking no longer needs to be viewed as something stressful.

A fear of public speaking is something that I can strongly identify with; it was this fear that brought me to Cognitive Hypnotherapy so I can fully understand how debilitating it can be. I am now a confident public speaker who regularly addresses large groups of people, something I could have only dreamed of in the past.

I’m so grateful for the time I spent with Lisa.
